Get some fresh air and make the most of the sunshine with these ideas for summer meetings – perfect for inspiring creativity and injecting a bit of fun into your working days.

On the River

  • Hire a river trip boat on a canal or river
  • Take a room in a riverside pub or hotel

By the Sea

  • Hire a beach hut – bit bonkers but great fun – arrive early for a breakfast meeting before the crowds arrive
  • Take a room in a seaside pub or hotel
  • Hire a meeting room on a ferry for the day

In the Country

  • Go to a country pub
  • Hire a barn – outdoor centres often have meeting space for hire

In the City

  • Find a roof top resturant
  • Get out in the park
  • Go to a museum or gallery

Top Tips for meeting ‘al fresco’

  • Tell everyone where you are going in advance and let them dress for comfort (and bring warm clothes just in case!)
  • Arrange some healthy food – be it breakfast or lunch
  • Keep hydrated – take lots of water with you
  • Give everyone time to settle in before you start so they don’t get distracted during the meeting
  • Get the important stuff out the way early
  • Be aware of the natural need for breaks
  • Plan in time at the end of the meeting to enjoy the location
