Last Monday was World Sketchnote day created and curated by The Sketchnote Army. People around the globe contributed their sketchnotes and drawings to raise awareness of the power of visual thinking and learning.
My contribution was this little guide to being British … I drew it on my Ipad using my favourite drawing app Paper by 53
Sketchnotes like this can provide a great summary to a presentation or addition to workshop handouts as an alternative to large scale graphic recordings. As they are created digitally they provide an instantly shareable image, and printed on postcards they can be mailed to delegates after the event as a reminder of what took place and used again later in the year as a prompt to re-book for next year.
There are several ways of preparing event sketchnotes:
- On the day – I can draw live during the event onto a projector screen and tweet and share it immediately. Or if the event is being streamed live I can work remotely and again post the images immediately after the event.
- In advance – working with the presenter to create an image which can be used during their presentation and shared immediately afterwards
- After the event – from a recording or transcript.
Please get in touch if you would like to challenge me to draw your next event!
