Earlier this year I was super excited to hear that two fellow visual practitioners were thinking about organising a UK Meet up – so excited that I immediately volunteered to help create the coordinate the day.
It was a credit to the leadership of Debbie Roberts that a team of about 8 organised the event without ever meeting up in real life. A series of online Zoom meetings and detailed visual notes meant that when we met the day before the event we were like old friends who just cracked on and got the set up sorted before we headed out for a welcome meal with 20 more of our tribe.
The event on Saturday whizzed by – a creatively stimulating mix of discussion, sharing ideas and experience and practical sessions and of course a lot of drawing! The main outcomes of the day were recorded big and live by a series of brave scribes, a graphic jam gave everyone the chance to ask ‘how do I draw a…’ and personal sketchnotes were being created throughout.
All in all a brilliant day and it was a pleasure and a privilege to be part of it. Can’t wait for 2017!
